Kathmandu: Liverpool have officially secured their 20th English Premier League title, capping off the 2024–25 season with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on the final matchday. The result was enough to crown them champions, having already secured the top spot before the final round of fixtures.
The title marks a historic achievement for head coach Arne Slot, who led Liverpool to glory in his debut season. It also adds another chapter to club history as Virgil van Dijk becomes the first Dutch captain ever to lift the Premier League trophy.
Liverpool’s dominance this season was reflected in their consistency and strength across all departments, enabling them to clinch the title ahead of traditional rivals. With this victory, Liverpool now tie Manchester United with 20 top-flight titles, further intensifying the historic rivalry between the two clubs.
The final day also confirmed the Champions League qualification for six English clubs, a rare occurrence. Alongside champions Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle United finished second to fifth, securing their Champions League spots. Tottenham Hotspur, who won the UEFA Europa League, also qualified for the tournament.
In other final day matches, Manchester United defeated Fulham 2-0, Everton edged Newcastle 1-0, Arsenal beat Southampton 2-1, and Brighton thrashed Tottenham 4-1. Chelsea, meanwhile, clinched a narrow 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, while Bournemouth overcame Leicester City 2-0. West Ham United beat Ipswich Town 3-1, and Wolves drew 1-1 with Brentford.
With the 2024–25 season wrapped up, Liverpool’s 20th title cements their legacy as one of the greatest clubs in English football, and all eyes now turn to next season — and the Champions League battles to come.
